What type of transmission do you have part II

Maybe they are just uploading the shifts points/ programming since it was new transmission????

That may be true partially. But there are a lot of factors that contribute to the operation of SMG. Like for example, when and how fast to engage AND RELEASE!! the clutch. The software can vary these 2 factors from adapting to each individual's driving style.

Try this, accelerate using 1st gear normally to about 5 mph, lightly tap on the brake and gas it again. You'll definitely feel some clutch shock as the SMG tries to unclutch (when brake is applied) and then clutch in again (gas). You can confuse SMG's electronic clutch quite easily. However, I have no doubt that BMW engineers, will grace us with improved software, as they gain more knowledge on how people drive.

Yes, I got my car back. It now feels no different that before it died. I am just as puzzled as the dealer on why the entire transmission has to be replaced.

And have not some of you indicated some changes in shifting or other SMG related functions based on your CIP version. Would that learning be to "Adapt or learn" your specific software level?
