On my old car i had 5% in NYC and when i got a ticket i would get a receipt from my friends shop that says i got it taken off. I love the 5% but on my current car i have no tint and am thinking about getting 20%.

How long have you been driving around with this tint on? Wondering how anal the chippees are lately in So Cal.

I used to have 5% all the way around, but when I got a ticket I had to change the front tint to 35%, but I left the back all 5.

I did 15% all around and 45% on the windshield. I love the dark look and it keeps the car much cooler here in FL (car is black on black and has the oem purpleish windshield). No issues so far.

Good choice with the 20% on rear windshield, and 35% on the doors. I've never liked the different tint on back door window to front door window. Looks uneven and not classy. A rear windshield being darker hides the darker tint because you're looking at it with almost always an untinted front windshield. That makes the 20 look more like a 30-35 making the tint look completely even all around. I went with a completely uniform look by tinting the windshield with a light 50% tint with the 35 door 20 rear set up. Had 20 door window with 5 back but got pulled over a couple times. Got tires or getting sideway looks from cops and it looked way too dark.

Sorry for the late response...it's going on a year now...and I drove it in literally all parts of LA/OC county because i'm all over the place. I think that it really depends how the tint makes your car look. If you have a black car and throw dark tint on it and it looks murdered out you're going to get a lot more cop attention then dark tint on a white or silver car.

Before I had my 528 I was driving around for several years in another silver car which looked very "normal" with dark tint (it was a honda accord). What I mean by that is...it was very rare that you would find a Honda accord sedan without tint on the road therefore the car looked almost stock with it (even though it clearly wasn't).

Maybe it's just me but I feel as if cops stereotype all cars that they consider pulling over. And if your car still looks normal or classy after your mods they will be less inclined to pull you over. That being said...lets see if I can still don't get pulled over after I do my crazy low beam retrofit.
