BMW windows out of production come with a slight tint of 95%. This means the window is slightly darker. Your car probably got tinted at the dealership or was a pre owned. Dealerships usually do 35% or 50%. If you post a picture of your car I can tell you what % your tints are.

I have 35% Pinnacle Ceramic tint all around... that's all the boys in blue allow in IL.
At first, I thought it was too light but it gives the car a more luxury look and the ceramic film keeps the car a bit cooler (supposedly). I had 20% all around on my last car and looking back, it was a tad too dark for my liking. Both cars have/had black interior.

Interior color is an important factor.
I went 50% all round because interior is black. I would go 35% for light interiors.
If you want heat rejection, there is not big difference between 50% and 35% for ceramic tint.
