i smoke but i don't smoke in the car. it gives that funky smell when you do, so i ditched the cigarette lighter too so no one is going to use it.

Those 12V outlets have been discussed already[quote]. E60s in Germany have them too (mine f.e.), but only when the advanced air-conditioning option is installed and obviously only after MY 2005.

My car has not got these. I think it was discussed on a different thread. My car has advanced air-con & was built in July 2005, but where those 12V sockets are located, i've just got a little recess/storage cubby.

our car is built in 2/05 and it has the advanced air-conditioning as well as the smoker's package although nobody of us smokes. in the german brochure of MY2003 and MY2004 there are those sockets.

Any of you guys (or gals) out there got kids with Gameboys etc.? My wife's E46 has the dual power outlets in the rear which means the kids never run out of juice for their hand held toys or portable DVD player. (UNLESS they're sat in the back of my E60 that is!)
Although I've put an aftermarket double power outlet in the front now which has helped, I find it frustrating (or should I say the kids do) when I switch of the engine and their power goes off because the front cigarette lighter socket only works when the ignition key is in the "engine start" position. I wish BMW would have made the outlet live all the time like it is in the wife's e46 and used to be on my old E39. (Moan over!)
I'm thinking of wiring an additional power outlet into the "cubby hole" where the outlets should be in the back, by running a fused "always live" connection from the battery seeing as it's so conveniently located in the boot. Maybe I'll get around to doing it now the nights are starting to get lighter since we put the clocks forward an hour last Sunday morning. I think it'll be handy for the Summer when I'm sure the family will be spending more time in my car when we get away on weekend breaks.
