To project the night vision onto the HUD would be so expensive nobody would buy it. You are talking about showing a black an white image on a polarized invisible film and still make it clear enough to actually see the image....

I know it would be expensive, but that is the future

Fancy options aside, I want the next 5-series to be a lighter car with a more direct communication driver-car, like the old 3-series. The joy of driving an E30 325i is almost a forgotten pleasure nowadays. It can be done, just drive a E90-seires car and there is more feedback from the car. I miss that on my E61. It's a very nice car, but lacks some of the "sparkling" joy I expect from a BMW.

- Sport suspension availability on the X drive sedans
- Ability to choose specific tires (brand, model, GFT or RFT, etc.)

  1. Continuous power to the Integrated Garage-Door Opener.
  2. Add a performance package to the Sport package for at least a 30hp increase over the base engine. It should include CAI and Free Flow Exhaust similar to what Porsche offers.
  3. Fold down rear seat as a standard feature.

Narv, the E60 is "only" 1600 Kg and already the lightest between Audi A6, BMW 5 and Mercedes E/CLS .
Do you want -100 Kg more ? You have to use more aluminium then more expensive .

The E60 is so much light that the difference between E60 and E90 is very small (try to search for 335i/535i or 335d/535d specs), less than 100 Kg .

1) LED indicators all round - not just rear.

2) Smaller Sports steering wheel

3) Professional Radio as standard in UK, not Business (BMW are cheapskates not doing this - it must cost them pence)

4) Inexpensive safety 'options' fitted as standard (e.g. High Beam Assist)

5) Re-badge the 525i / 525d as 530i/d (as they now have 3.0 litre engines), the 523i as 525i (as it has 2.5 litre engine) and the 530i/d as an 'S' model

6) Improve standard spec of UK cars to match more closely US spec cars

7) If not doing the above, reduce UK option prices

8) Charge a sensible price for Sat Nav (presently ?2,000 for a system worse than a ?100 Tom Tom)

9) Develop idrive to allow 'uploading' of portable Sat Nav images (TomTom etc) onto screen via USB

10) Auto boot / trunk closing (perhaps with Soft Close Automatic option)

11) Make voice control work 'right first time' on more than just 30% of occasions!

12) Educate the BMW sales force to know as much about the cars as the people who drive them (they should obviously know more, but we will start with a realistic ambition!).

Replace the standard heater / ventilation controls with something that feels 'quality' - not the rubbish that is fitted as standard.

My first BM was an E46 and I remember sitting in the driver's seat playing with the headlight switch because of how if felt.... (sad I know).

Too much rattle sound and aqueaking...
and please don't put another 16" wheels for the next 5series.
it looks terrible.
but other than those, my e60 is awesome and has served me well so far.
