I just bought a pair of ceramic pads, it doesn't cost that much, and it claims to reduce brake dusts and decrease stopping distance. There are also metallic brake pads that cost less, I wonder which kind BMW uses on e60.

You should be fine with ceramic. I run them on my Viper and they put out a LOT less dust. Plus, the dust they do produce is more of a light gray color and doesn't make your wheels look bad as fast.
I don't know about decreasing stopping distance with ceramics though. I actually lost a little braking power with them, but I keep a set of track pads for when I need them since you can change pads on a Viper in minutes.

Ceramics are not known for stopping power only having less dust.
