good question! I've washed the car on numerous occasions, but have never noticed that on my car.

 

Ah, ksc, that's the outside temperature sensor. I wouldn't buy another five series until they relocated it. My salesman had to show it to me. I knocked mine off the old 540 three times. Two were very expensive. The third, I learned to patch.

 

Temp sensor... didn't think about that...
