So are you telling me that trial by error is the only method of finding compatible media?
Because DVD players/recorders are electromechanical, in modern devices there will be individual (differing) tolerances rather than general incompatibility.

These days, what applies to your player may not apply to the next person's.

Fine. That's how marketeers want you to buy.

Just remember, the manufacturers and dyes of brands can and do change so what works in your player today may not work tomorrow with the next batch of the same "brand".

Good luck with your brand loyalty.

Incidentally the ADVDINFO for your discs is:

OPTODISCR008 for Samsung (8x) DVD-R

and

OPTODISCOR8 for Samsung (8x) DVD+R.

So made by OptoDisc.

Well, you got me wrong. I just had so many failures with the media in my E60 and my friend E90... That I just want to know what to buy and try. I just don't want to buy 20 different 10 DVD box sets and then trash the other 15 that are not working. Is this so not understandeable?

Well, aybeesea, I am not sure I understand what to look at. I am downloading ADVDInfo, but not sure how it will help me to choose what to pick up from the shelf.

OK. but these are the only two media types possible?!? I am looking for types I do not have handy and don't want to buy until I have an indication that it might work.
