I got exactly the same 2 error messages over the last few days, may I know what sort of problem your car eventually turned out to have?
Thanks

Akso the brake light is oreange and on all the time as well as the traction controll... It says to contact a bmw specialist as soon as possible.

Scary! Got the same error today on my way home from work "Drive control system malfuntion, driving stability" My iDrive also crapped out on me, keep trying to come back on and then it would shut down. Went out for about 10 minutes, until it finally came back on for good. Error went away after turning off the car and restarting. I'll be keeping an eye out.
I would also like to know what sort of problem was diagnosed with your car.
Thanks

There is a tsb for this. This happened to my car and they had to replace some modules under warranty. They had to special order the parts and gave me a loaner.

Same problem for me. Has happened several times over the past 3 weeks. But goes away if I turn the car off and won't come back for days. So is there any reason to be concerned with driving the car until I can get it fixed?

This happened to my car 2 months ago...i took it to the dealer and they had it for 3 days and said they fixed it...and it just started appearing again last week off and on...It is a problem with the SZL module...this is the module that communicates with the steering angle sensor...u should notice the sign usually popping up after u turn ur steering wheel about 135 degrees if this message popped up before but went away...I havent noticed any problems while the message error is popped up but don't want to wait to find out...hopefully they fix it this time and not try to just clear the computer

I too have this warning several times. It is until now really unpredictable what it initiates. Sometimes it goes off , after stopping the car, and starting it again. And sometimes it just comes back immediately.

It might have to do with battery condition someone says???

I just got back from 2 week fly drive holiday, and started the car this morning and the first thing is that I get this message.. SO this might give a clue.

if anyone has a solution for this, I am highly interested.

Rik

This makes some sense to me because mine usually comes on during a turn or right after that.

Anyone know if it damages the car if you drive with it like this?

Just "been there - done that." My car displayed the exact same error messages. The dealer replaced the SZL module and reprogrammed the CAS (for some reason). The SZL is the Steering Angle Sensor and it is located just below the steering wheel in the cabin. AFAIK it is an optical sensor which had a lot of failures 1-2 years ago. With the programming, it took my dealer 24 hours to fix.

Its possible its the battery I also ran into this problem they replaced the battery and it went away after that, but the battery is not covered under warranty paid $430 for the battery. But i don't have issues with lights coming on any more.
