Unfortunately the X6 is minus one seat in the back making room for only 4. Why not try out an M3 sedan (cost less than your choices too) for the short term? They aren't that much smaller on the inside than our e60's either!

I may get death threats here... But seriously, I was thinking about what I would do if my lease were up right now. And for the following reasons, an X6 is really attractive:

Choice 2: Lease a 650i (only appeal to me is a sportier image than my 550). MSRP and any lease is significantly more than that on a comparably equipped 550 and, for me, that's too high a premium to pay just to portray a slightly sportier image;

So basically, what other BMW can you get for less than $80,000, that will run sub 5 sec. 0-60, carry 4 comfortably and you won't see coming and going every time you get on the road?

Admiration by process of elimination...
...if Choice 2 is trully an option for you, then i'll argue that you should not think of the 650i as a slightly sportier 550i, but as the 2nd best GT in the world (after the M6 of course!)...they are 2 completely different cars and drive quite dis-similar...it is a big coupe as its nearly as long as the 5, but the cockpit envelops the driver making the rear seats unpractical for adults on long journeys, but its a perfect setup for serious sports driving.

as for costs, well a nicely packed 650i is now over $90K before taxes so that is quite a bit more than you may be considering, but well worth it for the car....... as for looks, its dead sexy and id never think of a 6er as an over 50 icon, thats a new one for sure!!!!

....and i cant wait to get my next one soon

I considered this for about 5 seconds. I then saw the 5.0 X6 Sport in my dealers showroom, threw up all over it and ordered an X5 4.8 instead. If you like how it looks, then go for it.

Personally, I think the car looks like the Pontiac Aztec. The lines of that car are something that will never grow on me. It's just too bad they don't have that engine in the X5. That would be perfect!

Thanks for once again speaking the truth, Calton!

I have had RR sport SC,Cayenne S,ML500 and recently got X5 4.8i. I would say X5 is the best SUV out there IMO. I looked at X6 5.0 but lease #'s
were a joke! $80k w/5K down around $1700 mos The X5 is our family car and the ride is good but not even close to a sedan. It is a heavy car
same as X6. Yes it's fast but different then a sedan! I would recommend getting 550i or M5 and do a 24mos lease and wait for the F10

I agree with flym5; I also have been making myself nuts over what my next car will be, my everyday driver has 4 months left on lease ans I love the car. We also have an X54.8, and guys I have to say that this car is not your everyday SUV, its comfortable, and drives almost like a car.

Because I use my car for work, and drive alot, I use both cars to keep the mileage somewhat under control, anyway I have looked at leasing an M3, X6, or another 550, but I really want the F10.

Maybe I'll just get a lexus

Greenberg,

You know what you get when you take 2/3 650i and 1/3 X5 4.8..........X6. My local dealer has sold only 3 X6s. They were all for export. Two of them to Russia.

I hated it at first and now its drawing me in like the precious from the lord of the rings? 4.8 0-60, handling to match and all the benefits of an SUV. So what if its a little small and ugly? So is the Mona Lisa.
X6 is also a choice but jumping from his sedan into an X6 he wont be as satisfied in handling.
In US you mostly guys loan, lease, etc... all that talk I dont know what would be the best choice for him in my city we mostly pay up 100% cash.

All the cars I have bought to this date have been bought with a 100% cash up front.

I think the X6 has been a huge flop, even worse than the X3 flopped. It wouldn't surprise me at all if BMW dropped the X6 completely. I live near the factory and as I said in another thread, one in 10 cars I see here is a BMW, but I've only ever seen three X6s.

Personally, I hate the styling of it and wouldn't want one if the gave them away with boxes of Corn Flakes. Why does the alternative have to be an M5. Why not an M6 ? Or what's wrong with keeping the 550i?

They did sell 4500 for the year in the U.S. I don't know what their projections were. If you combine, X5 & X6 sales, the total is up from X5 sales alone in '07. For comparison, 5800 Z4s & 6500 6 Series were sold so it's definitely a low volume niche vehicle.
