good post very true, for the un refined driver ( ohhhhh) a step would be the best but still coming from driving stick shift all my life and bikes and what not the manuel with a good box with a good driver 9 times out of ten beat the step. its all about skill. steps take the skill out of it so holding it on the brake , big deal.. getting that perfect amount of slip from teh clutch to launch it from a standing start to get that perfect balance between spinning the wheels and grip. thats just art work ....
sorry guys my view.

Check out dragtimes .com.The 545I at the top of the list is mine. It's a step that is completly stock down to the tires, air filter, and the original spark plugs. The 13.64 @103.22 is not the best time I ever ran,but is the best I could do on that day.I have times in the 13.30,s with better weather and better traction.

Wooow that's pretty fast!!! Are you shifting at 6500rpm? dsc off? I would be satisfied with 13.6 Maybe I have some problem in my car?

Shift at 6500 rpm,s,brake torque to 1200 rpm,s,dsc/dtc off.I don,t think there is anything wrong with your car.Weather conditions or even the slighest bobble on the start will give you poor times. Also I know many people don,t want to believe it but the step is faster than the smg or the manual. The little HP lost through the step is more than made up by the favorable gear ratio(3.38/2.93).The 3.38 allows a much faster launch.Good times are all about the launch.I try for zero wheelspin on the launch. This gives me the best times.
