SMG is slower than step, too.

Try to deactivate the DSC completely : the SMG become lovely (!), but on the road I prefer to drive with DTC on .

So tonight I went to track made 4 times my best was 14.4 (lost to swaped civic type r 200hp), by the way I was alone in the car and less than quarter in my tank. On dragtimes.com best was 13.6 and worst 14.1 something. And coming back at home I raced chineese guy with civic he told me that he have gsr swap. We were dead untill third after I fly away (4people in my car full tank). Any advice? I think maybe I'm not used to drive bmw, I own it like a week. What is redline? Thanks
You need more time with the SMG. Redline is approaching and exceeding 6500 rpm. Once you past 6500 rpm, the car cuts the fuel to the engine to preserve itself resulting in loss of power. For achieving the best times with SMG, shift right before 6500 rpm.

Turn off DTC & DSC completley and also you should learn how to use launch assist for the SMG.

It's true, at least for doing timed runs. No one with a 545i SMG or 6speed has managed to get better 0 - 60 and 1/4 mile times than Znod or grogan545, who both have 545i Step. It's b/c of the gearing. SMG final drive ratio is 2.91 whereas Step is 3.38. Even better final drive ratio is with the 645/650 Step with 3.45. There's the proof.

Post your time-slip. What was your 60' time? What was your MPH at the 1/4?

Mechanical advantage in the final drive isn't proof.
