weird electrical problems

I have a 2004 545. I have been experiencing the radio sound cutting out for 1-2 seconds, the interior lights will flicker, and sometimes the dynamic drive malfunction will come up. More recently the dash lights went off and on and the wipers stopped. I had replaced the battery a few months ago and had the battery registration done. (which by the way a friend of mine who is a BMW service advisor says needs to be done) I have been reading on the forums about updated programming and bad alternators. I was just wondering what the programming was and how successful eith the programming or new alternator was before I go and replaced the alternator. It seems that it is charging on the high side. 15.0 volts at idle. BTW, it has no navigation or phone installed and the engine ground strap is tight. Thanks

A software upgrade wouldn't hurt.
