Maybe some parts are re-positioned in the heavier engine models?! I dunno...
Larger trasmission/diff/brakes; center of gravity of engine further back; electronics bits moved to the back. Once upon a time, the battery went in the back for the bigger models, and in front for the lighter ones - now I guess they are all so heavy it's in the boot by default!

We are not talking enormous amounts - 1% of shift is about 15-20 kg ; the whole difference in weight across the range is 190 kg which divided 50/50 is 95 kg -> only need to shift 70/80 kg...

Clearly it's the higher number on the badge adding the extra weight in the rear...

Diff would make up a large chunk of it, I suspect, when moving up to the V8 models. I assume the V8s and 535d use a different diff than the "cooking" models?

I thought the 535d WAS the cooking model.

It uses chip fat for fuel.

OK so technically it's a "frying tonight" model.

What are you talking about?
They can't figure out where the weight distribution went, so they starting drifting and talking about fuel consumption and name calling . . .

Anyways, using more lightweight matter in the front offsets the heavier v8 and diesel. Didn't you guy learn that in physics? Add more aluminum to the front end (compared to the % of steel in the i6) and there you have it.

Yeah but in a way that's making the L6 models heavy on purpose...from that judgment. And weight is the killer in any good car right?

Right. However, pressed steel is still cheaper than forged aluminium...
