Have a 08 535 that still has one more year to go with factory warranty. Little confused with what is available after the warranty runs out. I thought there were two different warranties from BMW, one a Maintenance extension and the other a Warranty extension. The Maintenance Warranty goes for around $2200 which covers two more years of maint. cost.I believe covers items as oil changes etc. which I think is rather expensive. What is the other warranty extension?

I thought there was a Warranty extension of some sort to cover "defects" other than CPO. My car was purchased from a non BMW dealer and I was told the car could not go through a CPO certification... What do most owners do when their std. warranty runs out after 4 years? Go after market to look for coverage in case of water pump, transmission breakage?
