I saw a warning light on my dash last night and have no idea what it meant. It was gone 30 seconds later, never to return, but I'm very curious.

Its hard to describe - kind of like half of the car, with something next to it? I wish I could be more specific. I cant find it in the owners manual, and just wondered if there was some sight or listing somewhere of all the images and what they mean such that I could go find it visually.

Thanks, in advance.

- Pete

It was actually something that appeared within the little area shown in #7 - the same place where the yellow "temperature" snowflake appears when the bell rings that the temperature is below 35 degrees.

hmmm ... maybe a low fuel warning? Check Service area of IDrive - maybe something is noted there.

based on Pete's description, I'd guess a "door ajar" warning or something to that effect...

OK, actually went to my car and forced a door ajar warning, that ain't it. But it did jog my memory. I think it is the gas cap warning. Had it numerous times on the old car as it aged. The warning light is the half a car as Pete describes with the fuel door ajar (I think) and a little gas cap bby it. That's my new guess...

Loose gas cap would trigger emissions warning ... maybe it's the gas cap door?

Not always true. On my old 545, I got repeated "tighten gas cap" warnings but no emissions warnings. The warning would come on for 20-30 seconds and then go away, leaving no codes in the computer for my dealer to find. I found other threads on another board where someone had the same issue and finally paid for a new gas cap, issue resolved. Did the same before selling the 545. I assume it resolved the issue as the buyer has never called back complaining about the problem...
