I just bought this car, coming from a 00 528i. As one would expect, I am super happy with the stock power. However, I am interested to see what more can be done-- I come from an IT background and can't help but tinker with anything tech.
Common sense is telling me that tuning this car at 50k miles = no warranty from Dinan = possible problems due to increased stress on important innards.
I rescued it from carmax and have a full warranty up to 125k miles, not sure if Dinan would void it because it is "compatible". I will research that some more.
MAIN QUESTION: Has anybody tuned AT high mileage here?
Current upgrades: RPI ram intake, waiting on exhaust
Thanks

Tuned mine (a lowly 545i) at around 55k. Don't expect major power increases, with most of what is available coming from the intake, which you may already be getting part of with your RPI scoop, particularly if you removed the charcoal filter.
Throttle response and drivability from the intake work and, importantly, the software, however, is much improved, and the suspension is just about perfect IMO. You will notice a stiffening of the chassis from the strut bar(s) and a reduction in body roll from the springs. The exhaust gets me compliments ALL the time, and is just raucous enough for my taste.
Not an inexpensive upgrade all-in-all, but I like what it did to my car, turning it into the sport package that should have come from the factory but didn't for various reasons.

Thank you for your responses! I went ahead and did:
RPi ram air intake
RPi gt exhaust
Dinan Stage 2
Very happy with performance. The only reason I used Dinan instead of RPi for the tune, is my local mechanics are Dinan certified and I've been going there for awhile. I'm sure the RPi tune would've been just as excellent!

Are you referring to just the Stage 1 software flash or the full Stage 1 package including the following.
Intake
Throttle Body
Exhaust (Axle Back)
Stage 3 Software
Stage 1 Suspension (Koni Adjustables & Springs)
Front / Rear Strut Tower Braces
Pedals / Mats
I can only speak of the full Stage 1 kit as my 08 550 has had this since about 50k miles. Drivability is definitely better than stock but the only thing I will have to mention is that you have to be careful as the front M bumper is prone to catching on driveways and inclines. Other than that, I have not had any issues with the car that is related to the Dinan modifications.
Definitely quality parts but you do pay a premium for Dinan parts.
