Voice Recognition has developed slurred speech! Especially noticeable when using the voice command to make a phone call (Blue Tooth enabled Razor) when I am asked ?do you want to call i.e. John Doe? or something like that. The last syllable or syllables of the name are unintelligible. Sounds like my old college roommate on a Friday night after he had used one of his favorite chemicals! Anybody else with same problem?

Check and see if "@@" appears at the end of your phonebook listings. That problem has plagued several of us here, and could lead to the "slurred" sound at the end of the voice recog.

Are you saying that the "Do you want to call" sounds clear but the "John Doe" is not? If so, that may be working normally since the voice pronouncing the name is a computer synthesized voice that is "reading" the phone book directory.

In other words, the "Do you want to call" voice is recorded from an actual human but the "John Doe" voice isn't human...

Mine works (or actually doesn't) the same way. It's as if a non english person (a German?) is trying to pronounce English names. Same on Nav with certain street names. Like in US 1 the U will sound like like the ooh in "ooh baby" rather than like the sound of "you" And the Portugese names in my phone directory - for getta bout it

On nav cars, you don't load any voices into the microphone -- the computer voice pronounces it based on the spelling in the phonebook. The "do you want to call" voice is recorded from the factory by using a human voice.

If you don't have nav, then both the "system" voice and your own recorded voice are played back. Neither of these voices is an actual computer doing the talking, they're just a digitized recording of a human voice being played back by a computer.

Maybe this thread from many moons ago will help everyone put a face to the voices in their car...
