I was at the dealer yesterday for service and was reading a brochure about BMW technology in the 5 series. It mentioned how if you have voice control there is a feature where you can record memos like having a little voice recorder with you.

Does anyone know anything about this? Is this in Model year 06 only?

I have an 05' with v18.2 installed.

This feature is not indicated in my manual, and I have never bumped into it on my pre-6/05 build, "fully-optioned" 545i--with 19.01.01.

Thanks for the reply. The booklet I read at the dealer was called "Inside Track". It says this about voice control..

"Dictate up to five minutes of notes with the handy notepad feature, and play them back"

This is interesting..

Awhile ago this same booklet "Inside Track"said that BMW would call you when you needed a service appointment. When I mentioned it in a post nobody ever heard of it.
cheers

wow...I'm a musician so it would be great to be able to record little riffs and ideas I get. Do we have a definitive answer on this?

Hi Trev550i. I'm a musician as well (for hobby, not a career) and I was thinking the same thing. Driving around I get ideas and by the time I get home to record them, they're usually gone. I have the booklet and will scan it and post it later when I get to my office.
