do you need nav to have voice activation?

does this control your bluetooth phone? i.e. "call Tom"...??

There are 2 voice activation systems. One does bluetooth only and the button is located on the steering wheel. The other controls all functions within Idrive the button being located on the centre console next to the menu button.
Full control requires pro nav.

In the US, the only way to get voice command is to get nav (which I did!). It supposedly does work with a bluetooth phone, but I love my V60i and haven't bought a BT phone yet, so can't confirm.
