Looking for further info on the beast, i came across a VIN decoder over at the Z1 site - http://www.bmw-z1.com/VIN/VINdecode-e.cgi - which tells me that I am driving an e60 545i (nope - 520i) engine type n62 produced December 2002 with right-hand steering and an unknown transmission.

I was wondering if how one might go about finding accurate info regarding day.date of production, etc.

cheers

It told me my 545i is a 525i sport.
I think this doesn't work for the E60.

interesting that each version is wrong with a different result
my 520i = 545i
545i = 525i
525i = e34???

but, you must admit, it knows something since the first two are called e60s ?!?

Interesting!!!!

Put your VIN in to

http://www.carfax.com

It gave me exactly what I Ordered and I haven't got yet.

They must know something.

CarFax doesn't work on my vehicle -- it rejected the VIN as not valid - cheeky site!

I'm not really sure why we're even doing this, but I also did it!

The Z1 site had mine wrong also. It also indicates that I ordered an E34.

Carfax was correct and the car is even still in the "Scheduled for Production" status.
