Looking for further info on the beast, i came across a VIN decoder over at the Z1 site - http://www.bmw-z1.com/VIN/VINdecode-e.cgi - which tells me that I am driving an e60 545i (nope - 520i) engine type n62 produced December 2002 with right-hand steering and an unknown transmission.
I was wondering if how one might go about finding accurate info regarding day.date of production, etc. cheers |
It told me my 545i is a 525i sport.
I think this doesn't work for the E60. |
its not working for me too..my 525i was recognized as E34..what the heck....
|
interesting that each version is wrong with a different result
my 520i = 545i 545i = 525i 525i = e34??? but, you must admit, it knows something since the first two are called e60s ?!? |
Interesting!!!!
Put your VIN in to http://www.carfax.com It gave me exactly what I Ordered and I haven't got yet. They must know something. |
That is strange, cause this same site worked for my 530i

I just tried that car fax report, it does knows the year make and model. My car isn't even in the country yet. It does however have some incorect info on the engine:
Year/Make/Model: 2004 BMW 545I Body Style: Sedan 4 DR Engine Type: 4.5L V6 EFI DOHC 24V Manufactured In: GERMANY Search Results: 0 records found in our database |
Well.. a 4,5l V6 engine?
BMW has never sold a V6 engine :P -paasan |
CarFax doesn't work on my vehicle -- it rejected the VIN as not valid - cheeky site!
|
I'm not really sure why we're even doing this, but I also did it! :D
The Z1 site had mine wrong also. It also indicates that I ordered an E34. Carfax was correct and the car is even still in the "Scheduled for Production" status. -Jonathan |
