I drove home from work, about a 30 minute highway drive, left the car in front of the house running for about 5-10 mins. I headed back out and the car began to vibrate heavily, check engine light flashed on the dash and the idrive said to drive moderately, any ideas???

You should connect OBD-II code reader and see if any diagnostic codes are set. I'd say there must be an active/pending code set. Investigation of the problem will be much more meaningful with code.

A flashing check engine light means catalyst damaging misfires, which would go along with the vibration symptom. As stated above, a code reader is really necessary to figure out which cylinder(s) are being affected. It could be something as simple as worn spark plugs.
