very strange.....single alarm beep?!?!

My Ride: '08 535i SPORT l Deep Sea Blue l 19" AC Schnitzers Type IV Forged l GP Thunders & Hoen Fogs l SolarGuard 28%
i hadnt driven the car today its been parked since yesterday nite say 9pm'ish......i just walked the dog and went to retrieve something in the car when i clicked on the key fob i only heard a SINGLE BEEP.....what does this indicate?? did my alarm go off sometime during last nite or earlier today??

EXACTLY....when opening s/be double beep but i only heard a single....is there a way to know if our alarms got setup off previously somehow?? plz advise....tia.
