Yes, my 550 does the same. I like your choice of words, "stumbling all over itself!" After a few minutes, its fine. I'm hoping it goes away after another few 2Ks. Have only 2k now. I'll be following this closely over the next few months.

Mine too. I've got about 300mi on it. The first and 2nd gears are sluggish and jumpy, almost herky jerky when cold. I notice it the most in traffic in the morning. I don't live far from the freeway so the engine is not fully warmed up when I get on. I've noticed on some of my longer driving stints that it gets better. I'm in SoCal too so it is not real cold (low 60s in the morning right now).

I've never experienced anything similar - to the degree described by some of you here. But once in a while it does run somewhat rough as I back out of my garage ... it acts sort of jumpy. Once I've pulled out onto the street and I get under way I don't notice anything like that again.

Just now, for example, I got back home after 3 days of airplane travel and the 550 fired right up and purrred like a kitten from the get go. No roughness at all pulling out of the garage.

This has been an ongoing issue with the E60, but it seems like some of us always have it while others almost never experience it. Is it gasoline related?

my experience was with the gas from the dealer. Not sure what they use. It just seems very difficult to execute a smooth acceleration at low rpm. It just flies through gear 1 and 2 and then 3 is just a beast.

Well I guess I am glad I am not the only one -

Too bad too - cause all else about this car is awesome.

If anything I think the idle is too low on mine. For example, at a stoplight behind another car, when the light turns green I try to slowly and smoothly accelerate, but I almost always end up losing a significant amount of ground. Maybe it is the "fly by wire" delay, any ideas? However, I love how this thing behaves 30-80mph.

Thanks

I had this on my 545i. The engine almost "starved itself" when cold, the idle fluctuated and the car hesitated and shook when driving slowly. Never got resolved...

Cold starts have always been rough on my 550 now with 3600miles on it. Supposedly CIP 20 and 21 addresses this issue. My car is going in next Monday to get software update and to fix my crazy Navigation unit that flips out once a month for two days.

Ill post my results after I get my 550 back.

Considering I just picked mine up last Saturday and has a build date of 3/16 wouldn't it have the latest CIP?
