Very loud screech / squeal when starting
When first starting (in the morning), I hear a VERY loud screeching noise that lasts about 3-4 seconds and then stops. I have also noticed that it only happens if I have the AC on.
The car seems to be operating normally otherwise. Just passed emissions test a week ago.

check the belts - or pick up a bottle of drive belt conditioner and spray down your belts

If you have over 100K miles you're probably due for drive belt pulleys, just replaced both pulleys and got a new belt for my 08 528i with 100K miles, it's nice and quiet now. The AC in my car does not use a separate belt, it's a one belt system.
