OK, I have found more improvements with v12.1.2:

1) The CD in the Changer is always reported correctly by i-drive, even after restarting the car

2) The car behaves much better on cruise control - there no longer seems to be the "thump" of throttle when the car is asked to return to it's preset speed. I haven't been in any situation yet to see if it's any better on the engine braking in downhill sections though

3) The problem with TMC traffic problem mileages being wrong is also fixed! So it seems that the 2004-1 disc is not to blame. Not that I'm going to tell the dealer that - I'd still like to get my hands on a freebie 2004-2

I am so disappointed..

I went to my dealer this morning to get the 12.1.2. I was hoping that, at least, th voice command would be activated (in French, I live in Switzerland).

Results: I couldn't get my car this evening because the phone does'nt work anymore (it worked perfectly before!!). My dealer has to get a "box" for the voice command and this one is not available before one month. The problems with the navigation and the radio are not fixed.

I'm not sure to have my car to go on holiday next week.

What a pity for a car that worths more than 70'000 $ (it's a 545i with all options...)

I got version 12.1.2 installed today.
Has resolved the CD track memory issue but unfortunately has not activated the Brake Force Display which I was hoping it would.

As mentioned earlier in this post. The i-drive has changed a bit. As I don't have Navigation. The main i-drive menu has changed slightly. Previously there was a Bord section which has now been renamed to OBC. I've also noticed that there is now a Check Control Message section under the Service section which I never had before. The i-drive does appear to be slightly faster too.

Whoops, I have been slack! Is BMW530's thread OK, or do you want me to specifically post mine.

I think I'd like to have the light sensitivity changed as the lights are a bit too keen to come on (imo).

I had my update 2 days ago.

Now my car has lost seat memory function and active steering function.


Now totally fed up and told them to take the car back and find me another late E39.

I cant be doing with all these "glitches".

Just to clarify. I love the car to bits. Its the back up I cant put up with (or lack of) from BMW (Not dealer). They should have delayed the launch and sorted these problems out first! (As you can probably imagine. Not the first issue with E60)

a 3 hour update now 5 days long and today BMW say that they have two other cars in dealerships with the same problem and they are trying to address it. One thing they said is that seat function is no longer in the I drive but now on car key memory like to E39 was! Can anyone confirm?

Guest: I had a problem with the seat memory after version 11.2 upgrade. Basically what would happen is if key 1 was used and then key 2, you would have to hit the unlock button twice to get the seat to move to the last seat position key 2 was using. However everything is working again after version 12.12.0 upgrade.

I still have all options under I-Drive just as before. Where are you? Europe or US?

Is this is what is happening to you?
