My Ride: 2008 535i LCI with sports/premium package, Sports trans with paddle shifters, CF emblems, JB4 Software, Dinan Exhaust, Navigation, M5Tech body kit, Carbon wrap interrior trim and CIC Controller.
I would have a problem with that. The dealer guys charge out the ass for their parts and labor and are supposed to be the experts. For them to tell you that they "think" or it "should" fix it the issue is unacceptable! I would say, ok, I'll think about paying you for your nonsense work when you charge me for something that does not fix my car and probably didn't need replacing. I would expect this behavior from an indy shop, but on rare occasions. The issue that you have seems not to be the first time with the e60 so the dealer should be familiar with it and after verifying the codes should know how to repair it.

@tonyb635; agreed. I think I will spend Saturday removing the steering wheel to get at this sensor. i'm not sure how it works or how "accessable" it will be but I have compressed air, contact cleaner, etc and I think it is worth a try. Might also do sunroof seal and rear window seal as well. Should be a fun day!
