I'm usually for facelifts and improvements, but the E60 LCI standard front
is not looking any better than the original one! If fact the opposite, in my meaning.
Also the Sport look is the same.
The interior is a small improvement as are the light clusters and of course,
all the new engines are great , but...
...is the car actually that better in any aspect?
...is it more silent inside?
...is it now a 5 star EuroNCAP car?
...is the handling better?
...does it cope with 18" RF tyres?
I suppose the LCI comes with Progman 25.00.01 and soon 26...

I think the most important improvement is the engines, more power, torque & less fuel consumption. Most of other features are due to spectators eye. I myself
like the new front & rear, especially the lights are really cool. Interior feels to have been made of more high quality materials than in pre lci.. and the doors look more classic than before. High glossy black trims are cool - and no extra cost.
Active safety is on the highest level and passive should be ok as well- hopefully never tested personally though. Driving, seats, noise level etc. can only be judged after having had possibility to drive the car, but after having seen the lci ones in showroom I am really happy to receive one in the end of April.
Greetings,
TGII

I expressed my concerns about the comfort of the RFT's and he indicated that there used to be a problem but this had been "fixed".

I also read a testdrive by a Finnish magazine that said the steering has also been improved.
Nothing has been said by BMW of this matter either, but that is not a surprise for me.
BMW develops their cars all the time, but they do not tell nor market these improvements.
It would be the same as telling old customers, that their old car needs new parts!
Both BMW and it's sub-contructiors do a lot of reaches and testing all the time and as new better
parts are accepted by BMW, they will also be installed.
I thought if BMW did indeed improve steering & suspention...etc. They would shout these improvements over the roof.
1- to tempt pre-LCI owners to upgrade and
2-sway people away from competetion.
They are after a sale at the end of the day. As for telling pre-LCI owners you need new parts ?"$% doesn't make sense to me.

Here is an extract from a recent road test from a site called VerdictOnCars:
"All versions of the 5 Series are brilliant to drive, too. It combines a tranquil high-speed motorway cruise with real enthusiasm for a twisty stretch of road thanks in part to a new six-speed automatic gearbox. The overly firm ride of early 5 Series' has been fixed with the latest mild facelift too, minor suspension changes and smoother-riding second generation run-flat tyres eliminating the harshness from this tautly-suspended car - exactly how a 5 Series should be."
