Using Radio/CD without ignition

My Ride: 2005 530i JETBLACK/BLACK DAKOTA, COLD WEATHER PKG, PREMIUM PKG, ADAPTIVE XENON HEADLIGHTS, AUTO TRANSMISSION WITH 6 SPEED STEPTRONIC, BLUETOOTH SETUP,SAT SETUP AND WIFE AS CO-PILOT

hmm... didnt know that.... have to try in the morning.....so you dont have to have the key in the ignition?... if this werks....kewl!!!!

hey eric.... i dont have nav... but itried it witout the key in the ignition...and it worked....yippeeee!!!but one question.....does it stay on for a period of time..or do we need to manually turn it off?

Sup eric! It'll stay on for 20 mins and will turn off by itself. To save battery. YOu can manually turn it back on again... but it'll turn off again in 20 mins.

But be careful not to over drain the battery. I've done it for 30 mins once before so I know at least thats possible.

Well i get the first service in 1k time, I wonder if they'll sort it for me? Do BMW (UK), routinely update iDrive firmware etc in services?

I have pro nav and mine works with no key in the ignition. UK car.
