so funny how people get all up in arms about oil. just buy some and put it in your car. you wont have it in a few years from now. who cares?

put some Quaker state in it
remind me not to buy a used car from you. You must use regular grade fuel too huh?

While on the subject of DIY oil changes, how many qts do you need for 545i w/filter change?

I recently did mid interval oil change myself on the 750Li back in March. I just asked the guy at the BMW Parts department how many quarts of oil that I needed for both 750Li and 528i.
I am sure BMW SA would tell you how much oil is needed if you call him and give him your VIN number or you can just go visit the BMW service center and ask as I have.

I had a choice to use mobil 1 0w-40 or bmw synthetic 5w-30, and I chose mobil 1 0w-40 because I've been using it in my porsche without running into any problems. I noticed right after changing the oil in my BMW, the engine was running alot smoother and my custom exhaust became quieter also, however I feel that my engine rpms don't climb up as fast when pushing the car with the mobil 1 0w-40, thus my car's acceleration feels slower. Anybody else experience this too after changing to Mobil 1 0w-40? Next time I will just stick with the BMW 5w-30 synthetic or try German Castrol 0w-30.

I'd suggest a nice virgin olive oil. Some may disagree and say extra virgin is the only way to go. It's debatable. Truffle flavoring optional in any case.

Never noticed that or ever heard anyone notice that. I would think if there was difference it would be so small you'd need a computer to measure the slight difference.

My understanding is 0w performs the same as 5w when I was doing some oil research in the past. Forgot the reason behind why Mobile does it but it wasn't like going from 10w down to 5w.
