Is the USB interface the same as Ipod interface?

Can't seem to find any posts that explicitly confirm this but it does seem implied. Can anyone confirm or refute this? From what I can gather, the USB port is in the compartment under the arm rest. Where about is the Ipod interface socket? Thanks.
