I was referring to CD text on a CDR. You can burn MP3s onto a CD (using a program like Nero that converts them to wav files so you can have like 13 or 14 songs on a CD). And those should have text (mine has worked from the start more than a year ago).
The whole MP3 data disc thing is separate. Maybe in September with a software upgrade for those of us with Pro Nav.
I used to wonder whether BMW intentionally held out on MP3 functionality to sell more CD changers or the Premium Sound Pkg. With a data MP3 disc, those hold about 100 MP3s and makes the need for a changer less.
Are you talking only MP3s or would I-tunes format (aac) work as well. I just tried to burn my I-tunes playlist to a disc and use it on my 545I. No luck. It may be the fact that I was not burning MP-3 specifically.

It took those engineers more than two years to write the software that supports MP3. If BMW allready KNOWS there are other formats out there? I don't know... But IF they know about AAC... It will take them at least FIVE YEARS to write the software for this format...

ICEMAN: Logically, it would appear that there will be no MP3 playback in the US until September. That will be the case if one can ONLY get PRO Radio with the Nav in the US. Can someone confirm what radio comes to the US with/without "Premium Sound Package" and with/without Sirius but without the nav?
If you have nav (business OR professional) you HAVE the radio pro. Software update in September will bring the MP3 ability to it.

The only place you'll run into AAC format files is if you buy music from the iTunes Music Store, as all of their files are in that format. I guess that if you buy music from iTunes, but then want to burn it to a disk for use in the car, you'd either want AAC format support in the car or as others have said just convert it to a supported format.
