upgrade the transmission software?

Has anyone ever taking their E60 04-05 to the dealer for a upgrade of the transmission software? What was the reason and what did the upgrade fix?
Is there even such a thing?
My '04 Transmission is acting funny, and I have seen post here of people having the same issues. Jerking, feeling like it doesn't want to shift, Transmission Fault alert on the idrive. Just want to see if there is a fix or if the only option is a new tranny.
