upgrade my navi disc

i have a 05 bmw currently running the 2006 bmw of north america navi disc want to know is it possible to upgrade to the 2008 or 2009 version?
Also which map version is the best?

You can get upgrades from a BMW dealer or directly from NavTeq:

As far as what's the best? The best is probably the latest version...

I have 2006 as well, and I find it doesn't have some newer streets obviously, but it messed me up a few times telling me to turn where there is no left turn or to a one way street, etc. I hope the 2009 would have fixed these, I need to get the new disc as well.

I think you can contact Navteq directly to inquire about what street updates are on a specific map version year. But in some areas road changes occur after the map has been finalized and produced. That isn't a problem where the NAV system is being supplied with satellite info. But the e60 nav is reading the DVD based map - No live data there
