In the UK what should I expect to pay (if anything) for my dealership to update the i-drive to version 12 or whatever we are on now?

Also anyone have an idea of what the various benefits are that the update brings?

Should be free. Part of a "Quality Improvement/Enhancement" program.

Probably could justify it more if you got any little issues with your E60.

James: The features/fixes in v12 have been posted here. Search is your friend. It would help if you indicated that you have one or more of the problems addressed. The reason is that the dealers usually don't want to do the update just so someone can have the latest and greatest release. If it a'int broke, don't fix it, they figure. Also, there apparently is a limited number of times the car's computer can be updated before it needs to be replaced. I know that sounds ridiculous, but it's been reported here and elsewhere; the number might be 14 times. HTH.

Just ask for it to be done under warranty. You have at least one issue that needs fixing - CD player pause/track 1 restart so there should be no issue getting it booked in.
