so after I got a jump my car started, but now when I try to put in drive or reverse neutral it just goes back into park. What do you guys think the problem could be, my shifter maybe?

 

I had that issue once two years ago. Got it towed to the dealer (around 8pm). Got a call in the morning that the battery had probably died before or was on low charge, and when they started the car in the morning after fully charging it (read: not jump starting), everything seemed ok.

Actually, make sure you haven't accidently moved your shifter left and put it into the manual shifting mode.
