Good idea but we don't know what his deductible is or if he even has comprehensive.

Oh ya, I am still paying attention.
I just took the car to the body shop today, one that specializes in BMWs. They put it up on the lift and found even more damage in the rear. They couldn't figure out what happened either. There are definitely scratches atleast 3' apart that start on the bottom of the front bumper and continue half way under the car. Estimate $2,600.
Stopped by my insurance agency and they said I have to pay my deductible of $500 unless we can prove someone else did the damage. The only good thing is that my insurance rates will not go up because this is my first claim 20+ years.

I dunno about the rest of the folks here, but having front and rear damage seems like a curb was hit... I've done this on my old Volvo trying to be a punk kid to get around someone only to drive up a curb and nail the rack and rear diff because the other side of the curb was deeper than the road surface; i.e. it was like hitting a big rock in the road.

Update on my car.
I decided to have the car fixed and submit a claim with my insurance company, State Farm. Because I can't prove who did the damage, it is considered a collision claim, and I have to pay my $500 deductible.
Well, it's been in the body shop for a week now. What started out at a $2,600 estimate is now up to over $5,000. Since there was that much damage I am glad I am getting it fixed.
The good news is that I am not driving my car in winter weather, the bad news is I am driving a Mazda 3 rental car.
