And for this "privilege" you paid $1000. These are the reasons I have always taken a pass on Comfort Access. Glad I did.

I'm glad you're glad but for me, after using it for over six months (and without the problems that igor is reporting) I'm glad I have it...

You made a mistake - while locking the car with CA may suck, opening is a different story - especially when you have your hands full.

I too ocasionally have a delay when locking from the drivers door. However in general I love the CA option. I just keep the key in my coat pocket in the winter and I am always set. It is awesome when you have your hands full.

Another nice feature of CA during the extreme cold days we've had here lately is that you can start the car then lock it while it's running to allow it to warm up. The trick is that you have to press the lock button on the key fob to lock it but it'll still unlock when you touch the door handle...

I also like CA but haven't experienced the problem you are having. I wonder if there are nearby sources of RF that are conflicting with the CA Module?

I really like it ... no digging into my pockets for keys etc. And it's worked flawlessly everywhere I go.

One untried scenario is valet parking - but since I tend NOT to use valet parking it's not an issue (yet).
I do not think there is any interference of other sources as CA of my seecond car (BMW 1-er) works flawless in the same locations.

Igor,

That's a good of information and should support your need to have dealer service investigate the intermittent failure of CA module or in-car component. These new cars are more complex than ever - great features when they work correctly and extremely frustrating when they don't.

And, most consterning are these electronic faults that don't repeat themselves when you get to the dealer!

Do let us know what you discover next!

I finally got around to creating a comprehensive .pdf document on comfort access and posted it in the technical gallery here:
http://forums.e60.net/index.php?autocom=ga...i&img=10674

In that document, there is a detailed page or two on antennas (aerials) including their locations. (What's interesting is that the E63 has six antennas and the other E6x cars have five. )

Happy reading!
