That's good to hear In that case, honest opinion, I would 100% choose the petrol. But it will somewhat depend on the type of driving you will do. If you do a _lot_ of motorway miles, the 520d would sell me just on the mpg (not for economy, but for the amout of time I'd save not stopping to refill so often). 520d average 50.4mpg vs 525i 37.7mpg. But other than that, petrol all the way.

hi guys

my very 1st post on here as well. not really a car buff as such, although have recently bought myself an older 520i Se 53 plates but in the E60 model. I stubbled across this iste whilst trying to find out a little more about my car. Mainly to try and find out what options are available to improve it, as does not have the Navigation option installed, only has the basics i think.
Ive been searching for ways to install some kind of retrofit nav system but been unlucky so far as well as an ipod interface which can be used with the idrive. I too live in Warrington and thought i'd post in this topic as there seems to be a couple of local fellow posters on here.
On the Ipod front, I went into Halliwel Jones to ask what options were available and was told they do a retrofit kit for around ?195 and installation would be approx ?300. from what ive read online a large amount of the install cost is due to recoding the idrive system, which involves them plugging it up to the computer and leaving for a few hours (these hours for which you are charged for labour costs), ?495 to have ipod connected through idrive? i dont think so at the moment.

Anyway thats beside the point of just getting on here and making myself known and beginning to enjoy the vast amount of information others are sharing on this network.

thanks bye.
