they will have saved your new map info onto there hard drive, so when they check the car it should show up any discrepences...then it takes 10 seconds to over rite the map again...dont forget it could have nothing to do with the map...you might have a sticky injector or similar?
did they use "autologic" software to map your car?
my 530d is 502 lb's/ft
remaps are amazing arnt they....diesels...the way forward.
my colleague has a 2006 M5, and from a start and top end he can nail me, but on a "normal" journey through the gears and overtaking at 50mph ish i get the better of him...torque, i love it.

Hi there Doc. I also have a Dec 2004 build car and am considering changing tail lights to LCI. I was told that the retrofit cables would not fit onto a Dec 04 build, as it was too early a model year.
Can I ask where you got your cables, and whether it was pure plug and play ?
Cheers.

I know this might sound stupid, but what are LCI lights and how do i tell if i have them.
Thanks,

LCI lights are the new (2008) rear lights on our cars they are LED and look like a "fan" shape, or like the old electric bar heater eliments

Any Tips? Have a problem with my 05 530d at the moment. I got it remapped approx 6 months ago, on the rolling road it was 263bhp / 420lbft from the standard 218.
Recently ive noticed a shuddering through the car when accelerating hard in 5th/6th when overtaking.
Have been in touch the the company who remapped it and am going to see them next week.
What exactly should i be telling them to do?
Remove the map completely? Adjust it?
Dont want to cause anymore damage to the flywheel / clutch but to be honest i dont want to lose the extra power.

Same remap as me, that is a lot of torque through a clutch, that's why BMW only did the 535 in auto.

Hi guys, My first post since getting the car.........
Can anyone recommend a Chip / Tuning box for the Diesels?
I did a quick google, and liked the look of http://www.bhpplus.co.uk/pages.php?type=+5...24&make=BMW , but would be interested if anyone's used them or any other company?

I was quite pleased that I managed to average 30 (UK) mpg on a 500+ mile trip from Munich to Amsterdam on Thursday. It consisted of 10% town/jams, 80% motorway (50-80mph) and 10% 80-130mph.
Got my Cobra car alarm fitted yesterday with Tilt sensor (don't want my wheels stealing like someone in the UK reported here last week).

Never heard of them. Try Simon from Emaps.
See http://www.e-maps.co.uk/
Next best alterntive is DMS, but basically same product + warranty (never heard of anyone claim on it though) + about ?750 ish.
You pays your money........

tuning boxs or "chips" do work, and some do very well, but there is no substitute for a proper full re-map, this is custom mapped to your car and not a one size fits all thing.
if you have strong or weak points on you car ie: worn parts/injectors etc, a custom map will compensate for it and not damage your engine.
you get what you pay for...its like having a suit made to measure..it fits/works perfectly
take my car for instance you would not get 502 lb/ft and better fuel economy from a chip box..yes it does over fuel, but only on full beans.
and my remap cost ?350...cheap as chips.
