Not wanting to put you off M5 mirrors, they look great of course, but you don't need them to have the folding feature. I have folding on my regular shape mirrors.
True. I know you can get the folding mechanism on the regular mirrors. I called the dealer and was quoted ?450+ for EACH side, parts ONLY. To make matters worse, he can't confirm the folding feature would work cause he claims the wiring would be different on my car.

At that price, I might as well get the M5 ones (a member was selling them here). All I really need is confirmation from someone in UK with a similar spec car as mine who has done it and everything works. I would not want to get folding at the expense of something else.. if you know what I mean. Right now my mirrors have dipping down when reverse, some lights underneath it, works with my electrical memory seats. NO Folding and NO auto dimming.

Perhaps as I plan to drive up this summer to Holland to visit some friends, I may just drive into a dealer and ask them if they would sell the mirrors (normal ones) cheaper than Ripoff britain and if they can get the folding mirrors to work. Might just get a clearer picture. Right now as it stands, the UK dealer has left me the job to write to germany and UK customer service to ask the question and get the feedback. Don't you just hate that? Like I have hours to waste!!!

I park the car in our UK shoebox garage everyday and its a bother at times cause I have to physically fold mirrors to get past the door opening. Once past it, I am fine for space.

cheers

Yes its usually cool when it snows.

actually I am not taking the car out either. Can't drive and hate driving on snow. I rather revert to walking. Once had a bad experience on snow. My 3series would NOT go up this ever so slight gradient to get home. Tried reversing but it would still not budge. Wheels kept spinning but car did not budge. Finally had to shovel the snow away all the way up the street to the house. Ever since then, I decided not to drive in the snow unless I was in a 4x4.

cheers

Same problem for me, but maybe not quite so bad. I have about 3" of space either side of my mirrors (without having to fold them in).

There you go. I had to be pushed to my driveway by my son and a neighbour this afternoon, couldn't get the power down. How embarrassing! [attachment=91574SC00759.JPG]

Hi i went to sytner leicester and got my MP3 retrofit done by them - Jodie Wilson one of the service advisors (the fit one) - said you cnat do it - the techy said you cant do it - so i lied and said a tech friend of mine at bmw northampton said it is possible and showed the tech bulletin for the mp3 retrofit form here and they charged me ?50 for it -but it does work well
Ive since changed my dealer to the coventry branch as they are more caring and a lot more knowledgeable. than the leicester no hopers - who also said i cant get my mirrors to fold in when i lock the door
Coventry are going to do a software update for me on my 5 - which they say will allow me to lock the mirrors on door locking as i already have the button on the driver door.

Nothing yet guys.
Im waiting to hear from Dr Dave on the Nav retrofit, im ready to go ahead and do this.
Once this is done, i'm sure i'll need some sort of coding at BMW, so i'll get the MP3 update then too.

C'mon Doc!!! Nav me up
