I drove a Bentley Continental GT yesterday and it smelled too.... so I think it's quite normal... I have experienced it with many cars...

The burning smell is more noticeable when the car is new, even though I didn't rev the engine. I think it could be plastic that someone mentioned.

As others have said, cars tend to produce a burning smell when new, especially, for example, the X5's, and this smell will persist to some extent after hard runs and road trips. It results from extended or extreme periods of heat production.

Question

I drive this car like I stole it and I NEVER had any burning smells either from the engine or brakes like the other car I've driven...was always amazed as a matter of fact...

Hi guys, On the way back from a friends house late last night I decided to finally open her up, after 13,800 miles. I topped out at 140 mph for about 20 seconds . Whithin a few seconds of slowing down it smelled like something was burning for a bit. Has anyone else experienced this?

P.S. Another thing, for about a week now as i'm driving the car I hear 4 low beeping sounds almost like the sound of a countdown. This has happened everyday for about a week now. There are no messages on the i-drive.
Maybe your handbrake wasn't released completely ....sorry couldn't resist it.

I get this burning smell as well when driving the E60 hard at the track, but only after getting out of the car, I've been thinking its just the brakes....

Yes I would say so also, don't worry!

New cars have all kinds of rust proof-, gasket glue- and new parts- left over chemicals that brings out
the burning smell when you drive your new car hard, meaning that the engine and transmission gets
really hot.

I kind of love that smell, after a while of driving hard you can feel your adneraline flow and
your car smells like "racing"
