Hi guys, On the way back from a friends house late last night I decided to finally open her up, after 13,800 miles. I topped out at 140 mph for about 20 seconds . Whithin a few seconds of slowing down it smelled like something was burning for a bit. Has anyone else experienced this?

P.S. Another thing, for about a week now as i'm driving the car I hear 4 low beeping sounds almost like the sound of a countdown. This has happened everyday for about a week now. There are no messages on the i-drive.

The first time I did an indicated 160, I smelled something burning, it went away as quickly as it came and no problems since. Does the beeping sound only happen at the top of the hour? If so someone or your last software update turned on the hourly chime in idrive.

when does the beeping occur? constantly ? is there a pattern - you might have engaged the speed limiter

I have burning smell everytime (or let me say most of the time) i press heavily on the gaz (kick down).

i asked the dealer he expalined that when accelarating the air intake open fully to let fresh air in and by doing so it by passes the air filters !!! How true is this ... I freinkly do not know.

as for the beeping it must be the clock,

regards

I hope it is not the hourly beep? -- that is if you enabled it on the i-drive

opps...some one answered that...sorry about the re-post.

I have burning smell all times when I drive fast but not only on E60.

I experienced the same on X3 and E90 too!

In think in all cars I've driven if you do WOT (wide open throttle) theres a small smell afterwards... just briefly tho it never staied...

I too wonder what that is... seems like maybe the car isnt getting enough oil to lube the engine or somthing... but i still keep doing WOT! hahaha its soo much fun.
