i could be wrong but i dont believe the turbo is technically engaged if the car is in "P" or neutral..... the "whine" is literally made when the boost is released and this cold pressure is the result of the spooling sound..... hope u understand what i mean?!!?!? so the harder u run the car the more pressure is engaged hence u hear the "whine" louder!! again, im no rocket scientist but it makes sense, no??
No, I got you. It makes sense completely. I dunno why I didn't think of that at first, that the pressure has to be released, and it would probably mess something up if the engine wasn't actually working that hard and instead revving in place.
you will not hear the turbos spooling while driving, especially when shifting between gears.
the only way to really hear the turbos is to rev the car when parked, and you will hear the turbos spooling slightly.
it's a very light, high pitched, whistle. when i got my RPi Gt Race exhaust, i could hear the turbos spooling much more.
like Gene said if you want to loose performance, but want to sound cool get a dual cone air intake.
