My Ride: E60 550i
Model Year: 2010
I recently purchased 2009 550i for my wife. The trunk won't open if I press "trunk open" button on the remote. The car has comfort access option. I just replaced the battery as it was low but nothing changed. I managed to get it to open a few times by pressing unlock button and then trunk open button but the results are inconsistent. According to the manual one has to press the button and hold it for 1 sec. When I do this my turn lights start to flash. If I hold it for ~3s (as per manual) the car goes into panic mode. I have locked and unlocked the trunk with the key. I have no problem opening the trunk manually or using the button inside the cabin. Any idea what's going on?
On another topic, I only have 1 comfort access fob. Is it possible to order non-comfort access key fob that will require no programming?

Mine is a "2-click" sort of process. Try this: press button for ~1sec and release then press it again right away.

+1 Two click method worked for me too. Hold too long and the alarms go off.

I'm thinking it is a change to help against the accidental opening from the keys in the pocket problem. It is harder to get the right double-click process in the pocket than a single press.

Just to clarify, my E60 would often work with just one push but the alarm would go off half the time so I went to the two click approach with no problems.
BTW, my new F10 has a separate button for the trunk and a separate button for the panic alarm.

The reason for double-click is obvious. What is not obvious is why this change to $70k car doesn't have any instructions in the owners manual.
