Hi group,

Long time lurker, first time poster

I have a 2008 LCI Euro E60 520d and every now and then the trip meter resets itself, at first I thought I was going crazy or maybe hitting the reset button by mistake but I'm not

I always reset it when I fill up and after a while, totally random mileage, the trip will show hundreds of miles less than earlier in the same journey, for example, few days back it was reading 560 miles and the next time I looked, 10 minutes later, it was reading 36 miles, it never seems to reset to zero??

I have had it plugged in at my dealer but nothing ever shows up.

I know it's nothing major but it's annoying.

Any help/thoughts would be appreciated,

Richie.

Does the car also lose the time of day (but not the date).

The trip mileage and time of day are both lost when the battery is disconnected. If your battery is dying the volts could be dropping when you start the car and resetting the trip counter.

Thanks for the replies guys,

@ Jason, the time and date are unneffected, I've checked the battery voltage and amps are good and both terminals are securely tightened.

Also, it only happens as I'm driving and it never resets to zero.

It's not a big issue but annoys me as I like to keep an eye on the range I get to a tank.

Thanks again,

Richie.
