From the time i spent back east in my dad's 535 it means that the temperature outside is below freezing or 32 degrees f or below its just a warning to let you know of the possibility of ice.

It has been in BOTH of my E6X cars instruction Manuals. In the USA it come on at 37DegF to let you know of the possibility of Ice on the road ways. In fact if you look at the iDrive screen when it goes off It actually says that at the bottom of the screen , imagine that.

Try looking in the instrumentation section or warning lights section of the instruction manual. I know it was in both post and pre LCI versions and in a Touring one too.I can't quote a page since my car is in the parking deck right now...

This same question is now popping up 2-3 times a week and it used to be a one or two times a month thing in the winter months, so much for global warming....

This is from page 77 of the manual. I couldn't find any actual reference to the "snowflake triangle" that shows up on the display.

Welcome to my part of the world. I wish I could turn this feature off. My cars are never garaged so EVERY time I start the car form December to April this stupid warning chime and yellow snowflake greet me. Believe me it gets annoying. If the temp goes below -3C it stops.
My retired 2003 325 did the same thing.

I have being getting that 'chime' and snowflake now for a couple of months as it's been cold here for ages.
It was -1 (celcius) this morning so as soon as I start the car it's already beeping.
Played golf yesterday in a place called 'Portmarnock'. Famous Irish course. I'm still frozen from it.

I was just wondering, what will the warning sound be if the software which controls the warning chime fails?
