My Ride: BMW White 545i w/ Premium, Sport, Dynamic Handling Package
Default

Sup ppl, i am one of the new owner of white 545i. just got the car over a week ago. my baby has premium, sport and dynamic handing package. currently is about 600km only. haha, everything is great with V8 engine, i can feel lots of power that i need on the road. so far i am having 2 problems with my baby.

1. creaking window sounds, but i found out in the thread ppl are talkin about. i will prolly take it back to dealer to apply some chemical on, which is no problem with dat.
2. the main problem is my car sumtimes won't shift to 2 gear unless i rev it up to 2700~3000rpm in the first gear. it sometimes happenned after a lil while of driving. is this problem causing from the software problem? will this be fixed after i upgrade to CIP V17?
3. my car has dynamic handling package, is it possible to lower the car? if so what brand of spring will you guys recommend?

thanks for guys who can answer these questions for me.

The change from 1st to 2nd gear, are delayed until 3000 RPM's when the engine is cold. The gearbox do so, to get the engine at higher revs, so the engine reach it's operating temp faster...

Did that make any sense ?

no man, it happens even when i had already driven for a while. usually happen after driving for a while, i either fully stop or rolling stop, the first gear has to rev up to 3000rpm to shift into 2nd gear. it happens quite a few times a day of driving.

CIP 17.1 has a fix for the transmission issue. BMW is aware of it.

My transmission does that same thing every once in a while. There are a few places on my ride home where it's most likely to do it, and I think it has something to do with the attitude sensor, as it's where I go up a little hill right after crossing some busy traffic. I brought it into the dealership back in the first week of May, and they said that everything was normal. They have not updated any software.

Jon do you have any more info or a link?

Thanks in advance.

I had this exact same problem with the delayed upshift from first to second gear, causing hte car to "hang onto" first until about 3,000 rpm even when accelerating very lightly. I had a software update to 17.01, and it fixed this problem. It's a complete fix. It's like a new car now. SO much better; I'm lovin' my car again. Hope this works for you like it did for me.

RAI

ok, i think it's a common problem on 545i. i ask my sales to check with dealer again to see if they have the new program to upgrade for me.

i had been told that we don't have any new software to update in vancouver so far. what da hell can this happen to our 545i owner, they should know our 545 have this upshifting problem and they have nothing so far to fix it. i am so disappoint.
