They called me this morning and told me that there is no internal problems with the transmission. They told me that I have 2 worn out transmission mounts and a worn out/faulty transmission damper, which they said was hydrolic? They quoted me a price of about 400 in parts and about 600 in labor. Total coming out to give or take a couple of bucks $1,100. What are your guy's take on the diagnosis?

I doubt it... but ask for a "no cure no pay"

Would be awesome if this is indeed the problem.

When you say "they" do you mean coastal motor works, or the dealership?

I took it to an independent shop called mission auto service (aliso viejo/mission viejo area). We took it to Irvine Transmission for a second opinion and they said that the only thing they see wrong is the transmission sleeve/gasket which is leaking oil. Other than that, I should be fine, but that is still gonna run me about $350 for repairs. Hopefully this solves everything.

I have jerky transmission too (sometimes) but only at lower speed (under 50mph). Before it gets worse and causes further possible damages I have scheduled a service at Crevier BMW tomorrow. Will let you all know the updates.

I have this exact problem - usually about 45mph it will "hiccup" while cruising. I have taken to going faster than 50mph to avoid the problem, but that recently got me my first speeding ticket in 8 years.

I really hope that the problem is not the mechanotonics unit that I have heard about in other threads. Please let me know what Crevier says about the problem. I was going to visit Assael this week but they seem to be waaaaaay to busy to service those of us with 5 year old cars.
